Stephen Morton, host of Behind The Music, Brings a rich and diverse background to the program. Mr. Morton serves as Worship Associate and Director of Choral Music at Salem in Ladue United Methodist Church, Artistic Director and Conductor of the American Chamber Chorale, and Lecturer in Voice at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Previous positions of leadership include Director of Music at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, IL, Artistic Director and Conductor of the St. Louis Metro Singers, and Conductor of the Bel Canto Chorus of St. Louis. Mr. Morton has made numerous guest conducting appearances with St. Louis University, Washington University, and the Illinois All-State Chorus.

As a singer, Mr. Morton’s rich bass-baritone voice has been featured in both opera and oratorio in the United States and Italy, and he has appeared locally with Opera Theater of St. Louis, Union Avenue Opera, the American Kantorei, and the Orchestra and Chorus of St. Louis.

Mr. Morton brings a strong faith commitment to Behind The Music, seeking to enrich the spiritual lives of listeners by helping people to find the inspirational messages to be found in great sacred music.
